Summer Ride Descriptions - 2008
Triple G. Outfitters has been in operation for 17 years at 4 Eagle Ranch, in Wolcott, Colorado. We pride ourselves on our experience and level of safety. Each horseback ride starts with an informational safety and demonstration talk to help riders feel comfortable while out on a ride. Our unique ranch setting offers breathtaking views of the Sawatch Range, Castle Peak and Red and White Mountain. All of this located just 23 miles from Vail and 16 miles from Beaver Creek.
Our wranglers are hand selected from the best in the Vail Valley. We pride ourselves on having knowledgeable, fun and experienced guides to ensure a memorable horseback experience. With an abundance of knowledge of the local history, first aid, and horses our guides are ready to answer any questions you may have about the ranch and its surrounding areas.
Pony Ride: For the little wranglers in your group, we offer pony rides daily. Led by one of our guides and accompanied by a parent, these pony rides give the kids a chance to get the feel of being on a full sized horse.
One Hour Trail Ride: Our one-hour trail ride is perfect for those not used to being in the saddle. We start low on the ranch and head off through the hay fields and alfalfa fields, next the trail winds its way up onto a mesa, which offers great views of the Sawatch Range and the 1200-acre ranch itself. This scenic loop offers superb views of the ranch from the upper mesa.
• Offered at 9:00 am & 2:30
pm daily.
1.5-Hour Trail Ride: This ride starts off the same as the one-hour, except for it initially goes behind the mesa through the willow trees, along Muddy Creek and gradually winds its way up to the top of the scenic mesa.
• Offered at 9:30 am & 2:00
pm daily.
Two-Hour Trail Ride: The two-hour ride is initially the same as the 1.5 hr ride, but the extra time gives the guest the opportunity to climb a lot higher for even more spectacular views.
• Offered at 10:30 am & 1:30
pm daily.
Half-Day Trail Ride (3 Hour): Our half-day ride offers
steeper terrain and is for the more experienced rider. It follows
the same route as the two-hour ride, but heads out onto BLM land
on top of the mesa. Going up and down through the draws, the half-day
ride continues north up a steep slope. At the height of the ride
(point rock), riders are offered spectacular panoramic views of
both Castle Peak and the Gore Range. Children must be 12
years old.
• Offered at 8:30 am daily.
Two-Hour Advanced Trail Rides: This ride starts in the arena, where the guest can get to know their horse, and where the guide can evaluate the persons riding abilities. The ride then leads up through the pasture to the advanced gate, and then up onto the mesa. The latter half of the ride is the same as the half-day ride. It is possible for riders to be out of line in areas where the terrain allows it. It is a trail ride that is advanced because the terrain is more technical.
• Offered at 1:00pm daily.
Saddles & Paddles: This is a setup for those looking for a full day of adventure. Guests choose between a two-hour ride, a half-day ride or the cattle round up. After the ride, guests enjoy a relaxing lunch on the porch of the Nelson Cabin. The raft portion of the experience takes place on the lower Eagle in the early part of the summer and the Shoshone Rapids on the Colorado River the latter part of the summer. Rapids vary depending on the water level, however, rapids are generally classed as a 3 rating out of 5 (intermediate). Times and rates vary depending on choice of ride and/or raft trip. Lunch following ride is included.
• Please call us for more information.
Cattle Round Up: A half day experience allows guests to be city slickers. Our cattle round up begins on the porch of the Nelson Cabin, where the guide gives a demonstration talk. The guests then head down to the arena on their horse where the can trot and lope and get familiar with their horse. They then set out in search of the cattle (we have a herd of 60-80 cattle, consisting mostly of Longhorn). Children must be at least 12 years old. Experience is preferred for a more enjoyable ride.
• Offered daily at 10:00 am. Lunch is included following ride.
